Badi Besbes

Badi Besbes is a Senior Animal Production Officer, Head of the Animal Production and Genetics Branch of the FAO Animal Production and Health Division. He has more than 25 years of experience in management of animal genetic resources, with a special focus on genetic improvement, characterization and animal identification and recording, on which he has published extensively. He holds a Master degree in Animal Science and a PhD in Animal Genetics. Before joining FAO in 2006, he worked 14 years in the poultry breeding industry (ISA, now part of the Hendrix Group). He also has good experience in supporting inter-governmental policy processes. Currently, he is particularly working on development of livestock value chain and improving resilience of agro-pastoral systems.
