Mike Baker, CEO of the Donkey Sanctuary delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.

Mike Baker pointed out that animal welfare had received increasing attention from people around the world. People were more and more aware of animal welfare, which was very important for animals’ natural behaviour expressing , mental well-being, as well as food safety. Animals played a very important role in all aspects of human life, especially for the realization of the UN's sustainable development goals. Therefore, we should consider how we can treat animals more friendly.
Mike Bake said, “China has made tremendous progress in animal welfare. We have witnessed the major changes China has made. We are very pleased to use this knowledge to support China’s progress in animal welfare. Not only that, China has a lot of experiences in animal welfare development, so we can learn a lot from China during our cooperation and interaction with China. We are not just signing some consensus or signing some agreements. And more importantly, we need to take some practical actions to improve animal welfare."
